Skillvee for Ashby

What the integration does

Skillvee is a work simulation for any role whose work happens on a computer, such as sales, customer success, operations, product or engineering. Candidates spend a simulated day at work: they solve a real challenge, gather information from AI-powered coworkers, and explain their decisions on a call.

• Add a Skillvee simulation to any stage of a job's interview plan.
• Start it from the candidate's profile. Skillvee emails the invitation right away, with the reminders and deadline set on the simulation.
• Follow progress on the candidate in Ashby: Invited, Started, Completed.
• When the candidate finishes, see the result on their profile: a score out of 100 (70 is the bar set for the role), a summary, each skill observed, and a link to the full report and session recording.

Before you start

• A Skillvee account where you are your organization's owner. Only the owner can connect Ashby.
• Admin access in Ashby, to set up the integration.
• At least one live simulation in Skillvee. Only live simulations are listed in Ashby.

Connect Ashby and Skillvee

Connecting takes two keys, one in each direction. Each Skillvee organization has one live Ashby connection.

   Create an Ashby API key from the Skillvee tile

   In Ashby, open Admin → Integrations, find Skillvee and enable it. In the Ashby API Key dropdown, type a name such as Skillvee and choose the option to create it. Copy the key.

   Paste it into Skillvee

   In Skillvee, open Settings → Integrations. Under Connect Ashby, paste the key and click Connect Ashby. Skillvee checks the key with Ashby before saving it, so a mistyped key is refused right there.

   Paste the Skillvee key into Ashby

   Skillvee then shows you a Skillvee key, once. Copy it, paste it into the Skillvee API Key field on the same Skillvee tile in Ashby, and save.

Lost the Skillvee key? Skillvee only keeps a fingerprint of it, so it can't be shown again. Open Settings → Integrations, deactivate the Ashby connection, and connect again. You'll get a new key to paste into Ashby.

Add Skillvee to an interview plan

1. Open the job's Interview Plan in Ashby.
2. On the stage where you want the simulation, choose Add Activity, then Integrations → Skillvee. Pick the simulation under Assessment Type and click Add.

Send it to a candidate

On the candidate's profile, at that stage, click Start Assessment and confirm with Start. Skillvee emails the invitation immediately.

Starting it again for the same candidate and simulation returns the same assessment. It never sends a second email or creates a second attempt. After an assessment is cancelled, starting it again begins a new one.

What you see in Ashby

Skillvee never gives a hire or no-hire recommendation. The score is out of 100, where 70 is the bar set for the role, and the decision stays with your team.

Opening the full report

The Full report link opens the report, its PDF and the session recording, with no Skillvee account needed. The first time on a browser, you enter your work email and a six-digit code we send to it. Codes only go to the email domains your Skillvee owner allowed under Settings → Integrations → Allowed email domains.

Cancelling

Cancelling the assessment in Ashby stops the invitation and its reminders in Skillvee. Anything the candidate already did stays in Skillvee.

Troubleshooting

“Skillvee did not recognize this key.”

The API key on the Skillvee tile in Ashby is not your current Skillvee key. Paste the Skillvee key again, or deactivate and reconnect in Skillvee to get a new one.

“This Ashby account is not connected to Skillvee.”

The connection was deactivated in Skillvee. Your Skillvee owner can connect it again from Settings → Integrations.

“Email bounced.”

Correct the candidate's email in Ashby, then start the assessment again.

No simulations listed

Publish a simulation in Skillvee. It appears in Ashby right away.
